1940's week at Fosse House!

The care home's team of staff went back to the 1940's for the week, and certainly looked the part! With every detail covered from their hair and makeup, to the vintage wartime uniforms and beautiful dresses of the decade - the care home had really gone back in time. The idea for the themed week came about as the Home got ready for Nutrition and Hydration Week, a fantastic initiative which aimed to raise awareness of the importance of nutrition and hydration as an essential element of care. The campaign was supported by all of our Homes with a number of events running throughout the week, including a sausage tasting competition, a tea dance in Elstree, and a companywide bake-off for our residents to take part in. Zoe Hiscox, the Home’s Deputy Manager came up with the chosen theme as a way of getting the residents more involved with the week, whilst stimulating memories and creating opportunities for reminiscence. The week finished on the Friday with a Tea Dance at the Home. Home Manager Pauline Marlborough said of the week 'it was a fantastic event, the staff made such an effort for the residents and it really paid off - they were absolutely thrilled to see them all dressed up and it certainly put a smile on a lot of faces!"
