Armed Forces Day at Quantum Care
Armed Forces Day gives communities right across the UK an opportunity to show their support for the men and women who make up the UK’s armed forces. This year the event took place on Saturday 24th June and, from Stirling to Southampton, a great many events were held by communities right across the country.
We often run events in our care homes that relate to our military, usually to commemorate contributions made by our residents but also for national events such as Remembrance Day. This year Mountbatten Lodge, our care home in Hemel Hempstead, and Courtland Lodge, our care home in Watford both held events to mark Armed Forces Day.
The homes held parties which took place both inside and outside with BBQs, afternoon tea and live entertainment on offer to residents, their families and staff who all took part in the event.
The live entertainment was provided by Beth, the Home Manager of Mountbatten Lodge and Emily, the Deputy Manager of Courtland Lodge who both sang songs that were popular during the Second World War including “Kiss me Goodnight Sergeant Major”. They were on a bit of a tour as they performed at both homes during the day.
Events like these would not be possibly without our dedicated teams of activity workers, kitchen staff, carers and other staff who always go the extra mile to make these events as amazing as they are.
