Dementia Action Week and Fundraising
Dementia Action Week is a campaign organised by the Alzheimer’s Society designed to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. This year’s topic is “Diagnosis”, chosen by the society due to the sustained drop in dementia diagnosis rates.
As part of Dementia Action Week we have been holding Dementia Talks in a number of our homes for residents, their relatives and friends as well as members of the public. These Dementia Talks aim to provide information about the disease and also give people the opportunity to ask questions of the experts present. The talks, which are run by our training team, have always been popular within the communities that we serve.
We also held a fundraising Coffee Morning for Dementia UK, a specialist dementia nurse charity. The event was made extra special by the homemade cakes that were brought in by members of our staff which helped to raise £150 for the charity.
We’d like to thank our training team for the excellent events that they held, the staff in our homes for being wonderful hosts and all those who gave money for our charitable cause.
