Fire Service Visit Jubilee Resident
The Stevenage Fire Service was called out to Jubilee Court last week, luckily not for an emergency but instead to pay a visit to ex fire fighter and now resident in the home Eric! Eric has lived at Jubilee Court for the last 8 months and has spent much of that time regaling carers and fellow residents with tales of his 24 year career in the Fire Service. Hoping to bring those stories to life for Eric, activity co-ordinator Ian arranged for current members of the emergency services to come in to the home and give a tour of the engine as well as chat to residents, particularly Eric, about how their equipment has developed and changed over the years. After their talk, Eric took the floor and finished off the afternoon sharing some of his favourite stories over a cup of tea! His son’s, both of whom have followed in his footsteps with careers in the emergency services, joined Eric and his fellow residents for the day, making it truly perfect for him. It’s wonderful to see our staff going above and beyond for their residents like this and even better to see how incredible residents respond to days like this!
