Fresh Fruit and Bubbles at Courtland Lodge
Staff from our Watford Care Home recently attended a workshop focusing on Quantum Care's Rhythm of Life Dementia Strategy, which is designed to look at every aspect of care delivery, both from a staff and from a resident point of view, with the aim of providing a homely family atmosphere where care staff continue to focus on an individual's strengths to help maintain their natural Rhythm of Life. They thoroughly enjoyed the training and came back with a lot of enthusiasm and new ideas to share with the team, one of which was a sensory bubble machine which produces different fragrances, and a creates a calming and tranquil environment for the residents. In addition to this, Courtland Lodge have also been extending the range and location of finger foods available to residents. Such finger foods are much easier for our residents with co-ordination difficulties to pick up and eat, thus maintaining independence and self-esteem. Consequently Courtland Lodge have observed many health benefits and are pleased with the results.
