This annual campaign which is led by the Alzheimer’s Society saw events taking place across the country to promote this year’s theme, Don’t Bottle It Up, which aims to encourage those with questions about dementia to open up and actively seek information and support. The Mead care home in Castleford Close was joined by provider Quantum Care’s other 25 Homes in and around Hertfordshire to release balloons to mark the end of the campaign. Each of the balloons included The 5 things you should know about dementia, the message currently being promoted nationally by the Alzheimer’s Society as part of their Dementia Friends Initiative. A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it's like to live with dementia by attending an information session delivered by a Dementia Friends Champion, and then turns that understanding into action. Quantum Care Homes have so far recruited over 300 Dementia Friends in support of this campaign and will continue to do so with information sessions happening across the County during and beyond Dementia Awareness Week – if you would like to attend one of these sessions and become a Dementia Friend please visit www.quantumcare.co.uk for further details.
