A Lovely Letter for Jubilee Court
Hi, On behalf of myself, and my family, I just wanted to express my gratitude for the kindness and care you extended to my Father - firstly at Newhaven and then again at Jubilee Court. My special thanks to all the Carers on Evergreen - particularly his key worker Lorraine, and Care Manager Gabby. Despite failing memory, and a great desire on his part to have 'times out' from the home, he was always pleased to return after one of our outings. Amazed at the size of the building, he never failed to say how good all the people were, and what a nice place it was. We do know that frustration with his inability to do the things he thought he should be able to do, caused him to be difficult sometimes, and of course, his poor hearing resulted in shouting. Thank you all so much for being so patient at those times, and please be reassured that his continual eating of crisps, etc., was no reflection on the food supplied - he was simply an 'all day grazer' and had been for 20+ years; something my mother had nagged him about often, before she left us! He was a very strong man well into his 80's and over the years he has quietly used that great strength to help a lot of people. His ability to view life in such a positive manner, always looking for something amusing to say or do was remarkable, and it was wonderful to hear his carers say that he was still finding ways to joke with them, almost to the very end. Dad has always been an outdoor person, so with the homes' permission we would like to donate a garden bench on his behalf for other residents to enjoy. Very best wishes, M, L and A
