Margaret House Home Manager chosen as Dementia Personality of the Year!
The Home Manager of our Abbots Langley care home was chosen on Friday as the winner of a prestigious, national award! Coni Anang, Home Manager of Margaret House attended the National Dementia Care Awards in Birmingham on Friday evening with colleagues from Quantum Care, after being shortlisted as a finalist in the Dementia Personality category. The event, which was hosted by singer and television presenter Cheryl Baker took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, and began with a drinks reception and dinner before the winners of the awards were announced. Coni’s category was the penultimate award of the night, and after a nervous wait, the winner was announced. Coni, who was visibly shocked, said “I would like to thank God for giving me the privilege of winning this coveted title of Dementia Personality of the Year 2015. Secondly thanks to Sarah Webber who nominated me, Julie Davey who believed in me, Lisa Topping my number one fan, and my lovely team at Margaret House. I will continue to make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia and their relatives. I believe happy staff make happy residents, and with this in mind I will continue to build and foster a culture of person- centered care in Quantum and beyond. Let the rhythm flow.” The judges said they chose Coni because ‘she is truly inspirational; one with real passion, energy and a huge heart determined to go beyond the extra mile to ensure everyone with dementia can live well and enjoy life’ Congratulations Coni - we are so incredibly proud of you!
