As the Mayor and Mayoress arrived at our Hemel Hempstead care home they were treated to an impromptu performance from local ukulele band - Katie’s Jumping Fleas! The special guests were then led into Aunty Peg’s Café where they greeted residents, family and friends of the Home. The café had been decorated from top to bottom in preparation for the special day, and with Hawaiian themed music, food and more, it was quite the celebration! But the highlight of the day had to be the cutting of the cake! Mountbatten Lodge resident Donald Culverhouse was delighted to join the Mayor to jointly cut the birthday cake which had been made especially for the occasion by Mountbatten Lodge’s Chef. Julie Churchill, Home Manager said "we are delighted to be holding this fantastic Hawaiian themed celebration today to mark Mountbatten Lodge's 20th birthday, and were so pleased to have the Mayor and Mayoress join us as well - they really made it such a special day!"
