Nutrition and Hydration Week
Many of our homes have been marking this year’s Nutrition and Hydration week which takes place from 14th to 20th March. The purpose of the week is to “bring people together to create energy, focus and fun in order to highlight and educate people on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and well being in health and social care”.
Preventing dehydration and malnutrition, particularly in vulnerable people, the frail and the infirm not only leads to happier, healthier people but it also helps to reduce the burden on our national health and social care systems. As an example, many falls that result in an injury are a direct result of poor nutrition or a lack of hydration.
In our homes we provide a varied menu to our residents, with food created on site using the freshest local ingredients when possible. Our hydration stations, kitchens, in-home cafes and our amazing catering and care staff work to ensure that everyone enjoys a nutritious diet, with liquid refreshments available any time of the day.
We’ve always believed that food and drink is not only one of the foundations of good health, it’s also one of the greatest pleasures in life, which is why we place such an emphasis on the dining experience here at Quantum Care.
