Quantum Care Community Challenge 2024
The 2024 Quantum Care Community Challenge has begun! This event runs from 25th November to 24th December and sees all of our homes compete against each other to complete a set of 12 Christmas themed challenges. Some of these challenges are based within the home and some are based out in the home’s local community.
The challenges are:
Home Based Challenges
The Christmas Gig Challenge (3 points) – Perform a pantomime or carol concert – Invite members of your local community to watch the performance.
The Charity Challenge (1 point) – In a festive way, raise money for a charity of your choice. For example collect items for a Christmas hamper and sell raffle tickets for it or hold an auction for it.
The Christmas Stuffing Challenge (2 points) - Invite members of the local community (eg a local group) in for a festive lunch.
The Nativity Incident Challenge (2 points) – Re-create the Christmas nativity scene with residents and members of staff in starring roles.
The Five Gold Rings Challenge (3 Points) – Create a parody of the traditional 12 days of Christmas song using your own words. Include residents and any relatives that wish to volunteer. Invite in members of the community and resident family members to watch a performance. Video it in landscape mode (ie wider than it is tall). Photographs would be nice too.
The Postal Challenge (1 point, 1 bonus point available) – Help residents to create and send Christmas cards out to the community. You earn a maximum of one extra bonus point if any cards are written back and received.
The Christmas Bake Off Challenge (2 points) – Hold a Christmas bake off for residents and staff and invite a local celebrity or dignitary to the home to judge the results.
The Christmas Scrap Book Challenge (1 point) – Create a scrap book containing photographs etc of all of the challenges you attempt during this competition.
Externally Based Challenges
The Christmas Lights Challenge (2 points) – Take residents out to see the local Christmas lights. Bring a badger.
The Scavenger Hunt Challenge (3 points) – Take residents out to visit a local garden centre. Photograph yourselves with the following items found within the garden centre.
- A Christmas wreath
- A Christmas tree
- A Christmas gnome
- A member of the garden centre staff wearing something festive
- A poinsettia plant
- A star
- Four candles
- Fork handles
The Turkey Challenge (2 points) – Take residents out for a Christmas lunch. Take a photograph of residents with the chef that made the meal.
The Christmas Story Challenge (3 points) – Visit a local library or bookshop and photograph yourselves holding up a copy of the following books:
- A Christmas Carol
- Twas the Night Before Christmas
- Another Christmas book of your choosing
- A photograph of a member of the library or bookshop staff with residents and staff
- A book about badgers
