Remembrance Day Competition
Remembrance Day is always an extremely important event for residents in our homes. Despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 this year, our homes made sure that our residents were still able to commemorate the day and pay tribute to all those in the armed forces who gave their lives in the line of duty.
As part of the preparations for the day, our homes were set a challenge by Ernest Large, a longstanding friend and volunteer of Quantum Care, who has made it his mission to honour all Veterans living in our homes. Based around the Epitaph below, each home was tasked with producing a sensitive and fitting tribute for Remembrance Day, which would form a central part of their commemorations.
“In commemoration of the Quantum Care Veterans, men and women of the Royal Navy, the Army, the Royal Air Force, the Women’s Land Army and the Home Front who are or were resident here and came this way.”
We would like to thank our residents and colleagues for putting in so much effort to create these amazing displays, you should all be really proud. Chief Executive Maria Ball and Ernie were the judges of the competition and were sent photos of each home’s display, which had been anonymised. They have had a tough time making a decision, but the winners are as follows:
1st Place – Heath House
2nd Place – Fosse House
3rd Place – Courtland Lodge
Special commendations went to Jubilee Court, Willow Court, Dukeminster Court and Pinewood Lodge.
The winners will be receiving hampers to enjoy, well done!
