St. Patrick's Day at Providence Court:
Jane: "In the build-up to St. Patrick's Day I gave talks in all 4 communal lounges on the history of St. Patrick and we talked about Irish culture, music, dance, poetry, food and enjoyed many a humorous limerick. We talked about how St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in different corners of the world, concentrating mainly on the UK and the USA. We celebrated the day with Guinness, tea and food tasting in our centre. We also linked our nutrition and hydration week in with St. Patrick's Day and decorated our lounge in traditional Irish green and orange colours, festooned with bunting/balloons and each place setting had an Irish limerick to read as well as a toast which we read out to residents. Homemade Irish cakes (turlough tarts, Irish maltloaf, Green and white decorated cakes) were served and Irish music filled the air. Our dining room menu also included Salmon and colcannon."
