Summer at Tye Green Lodge
Afternoon Cream Teas at Mulberry House This is an outing that the residents have been looking forward to for a long time. We booked twenty places and there was no shortage of people wanting to go. The grounds at Mulberry House are beautiful are used for Weddings and other functions. We were very lucky with the weather and the cream teas were delicious. The staff working there are lovely and so helpful and because of the number of people that wanted to go we booked again. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. The weather is always a concern but we are usually very lucky and this year was no exception. We set off from the Moorhen in Harlow and travelled along the canal up to Harlow Mill. It’s a very tranquil trip and is so relaxing for everyone. It takes 4 hours but seems to go so quickly. The Crew are very friendly and help the residents to have a go at steering the Canal Boat. Every person that has a go gets a certificate at the end of the day. Our residents love this trip and look forward to it every time. All the horses at the stables are rescue animals and many have been mistreated. We were so fortunate in having the warmest day of the year. A Shetland pony called ‘Harry Potter’ was brought to meet us and for the residents to pet. We just walked in the sunshine seeing all the horses, ponies and donkeys in the fields and then afterwards we had lunch on benches outside. One of our residents said it was “one of my golden days” and “one I will always remember”. All of the residents were given pictures of the horses that we saw and they are planning on framing and keeping them in their bedrooms. It was a lovely day and one we will be talking about for a long time. Every year we give them a good lick of paint to bring them back to life.
