Testimonial for Pinewood Lodge, Ms H
Dear Pinewood Lodge, I received your invite yesterday and it is with great regret that I have to advise that I will not be able to attend. I will be in Devon that week and will be very sorry to miss the meeting. I would like to take this opportunity to make some comments, which you may like to share at the meeting on my behalf. My uncle has now been resident at Pinewood Lodge for over 10 years. He is very happy there and I am very happy with him being there too. I always find him happy and well cared for. We often laugh together that his social life is better than mine – he goes to the day centre four days a week and I am very happy to report that I received a phone call a few weeks ago to say not to come and visit him on a certain day as he wouldn’t be there, he was going out with a group of the residents for a pub lunch (I haven’t had a pub lunch in years, where am I going wrong!) I joke with him about all the chores I have to do (washing, shopping, cooking, cleaning etc etc) and point out that he leads a "gifted life" and he laughs back and agrees that it is nice to have "staff" do everything for him. He makes it sound as though he is "Lord of the Manor"! The staff at Pinewood are all really friendly and helpful. They always welcome me and if they have time, have a quick chat about how my uncle has been doing since I last visited. The most important thing for me personally, is that I know my uncle is well cared for and safe. I don't worry about him. It's a real blessing. It does make my heart jump a little when my phone goes and I see that it's Pinewood Lodge calling, but it's usually just to tell me that he’s got a sniffle and seen the doctor, or to ask if it's OK for him to have his flu jab if he wants to have it. Of course there are always the calls to tell me he's off gallivanting around on a day trip somewhere! I have asked my uncle if, when he's done with his room, if I can have it! That's how much I like everything about Pinewood Lodge. All in all, I am very happy with the care and attention which is given to my uncle. Well done, thanks and keep it up!
