Testimonials for The Fairway

Dear Maria, My mother who is a resident at The Fairway in South Oxhey was recently admitted to Watford General Hospital with a chest infection. Thanks to the quick action of your staff, Mum was admitted early and recovered quickly. It was during the obligatory End of Life/DNR meeting with consultant that it occurred to me that we are always singing the praises of the staff at the Fairway but have never expressed this in writing to you. The topic of the meeting was that at Mum's age and with advanced Alzheimer's her quality of life would be poor. There was a suggestion that she should be released with palliative care because her mood had dropped since being in hospital. We explained that we knew that it was because she was away from the home and that all that was needed was to be returned to those who loved and cared for her. Thankfully, Mum was discharged that evening. As soon as Mum was back at the Fairway, and thank to Ruth and Carol, she was up, walking, laughing and feeding herself - something the Hospital said she couldn't do. Ruth rang us to give us the good news and we really can't tell you what a relief it was. My mother has been in full time care at the home for over 18 months now and we could not be happier with the care she has received. The staff at The Fairway have always been a great support to all of us, we visit regularly and enjoy the happy atmosphere created at the home as much as Mum. Both Ruth and Carol bring fun and laughter to the day room and show the residents how much they are loved and cared for, they really bring a smile to all the faces including ours. We feel that in the current climate anything that shows care homes in a good light should be shouted from the rooftops. We want you to know that the staff at The Fairway are the best advert you have and that in particular Ruth and Carol should be valued, as they are priceless. Our heartfelt thank to all concerned. Yours faithfully, Donna, Lee & Greer
