Words of thanks for Carer's inspiring poem

"Dear Julie, I felt I had to write and say how touched I was by Cath's poem 'My Dream.' All of us make dreams but only some of us see their dreams happen. I should know that only too well, you see my own childhood dream never did happen; maybe my dream came from the 'head' unlike Cath's dream that came from the 'heart.' I was so humbled to hear that as a child Cath's dream job was to look after the elderly, a job many of us would never contemplate. I am even more humbled to know that Cath like other carers at Mountbatten engage in aspects of 'care' that I would shy away from. Cath says that her 'days are hard' are work and the 'hours long' but because she believes in her heart that what she does is 'right' she happily gets through the day by 'singing a song;' and after she makes sure that the elderly are 'safe' in bed, only then can she too sleep content knowing that she has lived her dream for another day. As a daughter of a resident at Mountbatten, I feel reassured by Cath's dream and by the 'friendliness' and smiles and hard work of all the carers who look after my mum at the home. It means that I too can sleep at night knowing that my mum herself is safely tucked up in bed until the morning when Cath and all her friends on Ruby are back at work. God bless you all," J
