Wishing a very happy, though belated, 100th birthday to Edna from Courtland Lodge! Guests came from as far away as Wales to join her to celebrate the occasion with many gifts, balloons and cards decorating her room.

Courtland Lodge has been selected to support Vicky, a music therapy student, with her placement year. Vicky will be visiting the home every Firday to run music sessions with the residents, either in groups or individually.

Courtland Lodge residents discovered a new favourite activity over Christmas: cake and biscuit decorating! They’re hard at work with icing, sweets and sprinkles producing some great looking (and great tasting!) creations!

Christmas Day at Courtland Lodge saw residents receiving gifts hand delivered by Santa! Residents and staff alike had a fantastic day together with a delicious dinner and a wonderful festive atmosphere!

Courtland Lodge residents were treated to their own performance of seasonal tunes from the Watford Brass Band last Sunday! Resident Brian was an active member of the band for many years so the group come in around Christmas time every year to play for him and the other residents.

Courtland Lodge started their Halloween festivities in the morning with a “what's your Halloween name” game and a Trick or Treat lucky dip all around the home.

Courtland Lodge residents celebrated World Animal Day with quizzes and trivia during a coffee morning and carried on in the afternoon with more fun and sensory games, discovering and learning about all sorts of animals!

Courtland Lodge residents were delighted when Colin returned to the home with his birds of prey in tow! This time he brought a rescued tawny owl which was blind in one eye and let the residents handle the bird and say hello.
