Fosse House news

On Thursday 15th September an delighted group of residents from Fosse House journeyed down to Southend for fish and chips; sun, sea and sand; and a stroll along the pier. The warm weather was perfectly complemented with ice creams, and everyone agreed it was a lovely day out.

Fosse House staff set themselves the challenge of acquiring and making four activity trolleys – one for each unit – and fifth Namaste trolley for use across the home.

Fosse House have been enjoying the culinary skills of resident John after he served up a delicious pizza he made himself alongside caseworker Ana-Maria. Unfortunately, the pizza disappeared pretty quickly after being dished up and has left residents suggesting John takes up a shift in the kitchen!

On Wednesday 3rd August a contingent of fifteen volunteers from the local youth connexions organisation came to Fosse House to give the work on the new nature garden a much needed boost! They worked with residents to replant the beds with ferns and other insect attracting plants.

Fosse house are aiming to put together a gym for their residents and have been receiving a few donations to help out. Things took off though after a resident’s niece posted on a St Albans city life website. Within 24 hours an exercise bike was donated to the home!

On Sunday 17th July Fosse House held it’s annual Garden Party, this time with a Wild West twist. Friends, families, staff and residents turned out in fancy dress as cowboys, Native Americans, prospectors and saloon girls.

We’re happy to introduce Fosse House’s new photographer! Derek, a resident at Fosse House, used to work as a photographer with Studios in Harpenden and had an excellent camera collection.

At nine o’clock last Friday night, the sponsored walkers started to gather at Fosse House. By half past, there were 21 people ready to go in full fancy dress!
