Residents at Jubilee Court have been making wax poppies for Remembrance Day. They flaked wax crayons onto greaseproof paper, then melted it. Once they had a wax sheet they cut the poppies out and finished them off with pipe cleaners and black buttons.

Residents and family members from Jubilee Court took a trip back to the age of flared trousers when they went to St Francis Theatre in Letchworth to watch Variety Express perform their Sensational 70’s cabaret show.

Jubilee Court have been decorating the units and putting on parties and crafts activities to get the home in the spirit of Halloween. One of their residents, May, has taken this to heart and is having a fantastic time dressing up and having pictures taken!

Jubilee Court’s activity team put on their own afternoon tea dance for their residents recently! Carol set the atmosphere by singing a few favourites from the 1920s while Ian, dressed for the occasion, encouraged residents to get into the spirit and take to the dance floor.

Violet, currently staying on Jubilee Court’s intermediate care unit, celebrated her 100th birthday this week! Born in 1916, Violet worked for many years as a Nanny before having her own daughter and staying home to raise her.

Jubilee Court residents enjoyed a wonderful visit from poet, author and local celebrity Pete Perry on National Poetry Day! He delighted residents with readings of his work, both serious and humorous, and was more than happy to discuss his inspirations and experiences.

The Stevenage Fire Service was called out to Jubilee Court last week, luckily not for an emergency but instead to pay a visit to ex fire fighter and now resident in the home Eric!

Jubilee Court residents happily got to work on three new jigsaw puzzles which were very kindly donated to the home. The finished puzzles depict famous works of art and are ideally suited for people with limited dexterity and yet challenging enough to still offer plenty of stimulation.

Residents spent an afternoon at Jubilee Court baking muesli biscuits, (to go alongside cakes made by the fabulous catering team), all in preparation for their Macmillan Coffee Morning last Friday.
